- Assessment rule: Well water testWell water often has iron, sulfur or bacteria that need their own treatment. We'll test your water on a visit; any extra treatment is priced then.
- Assessment rule: New water line connectionWithout a softener loop, connecting to your main water line is priced after a visit, because it depends on where the line comes in.
How the price is worked out
Each package has an installed price by household size. In the sample, a household of 3 or 4 is $1,700 (Salt-free conditioner), $1,900 (Water softener) or $3,000 (Softener + whole-home filter). Removing the old softener adds $150 to the first two; the third already includes it, so it shows as “Included”. That gives $1,850, $2,050 and $3,000 before tax.
When there's no floor drain and outlet within about 10 feet, a new drain line and outlet ($250) is added to the salt-based packages; salt-free conditioners need neither. A reverse osmosis drinking water filter at the kitchen sink adds $550. On well water, salt-free conditioners are ruled out and a water test is noted as priced after a visit. A first softener without a softener loop shows the system price, with the connection to the main water line priced after a visit.
