How the price is worked out
Each tree has a price by height. In the sample, one tree of 30 to 60 feet is $1,100 to take down, chip the branches and clean up. Grinding the stump is $250 and hauling the logs away $300, for $1,650 before tax.
Trees under 30 feet are $450 and over 60 feet $2,200, with stump and haul-away prices by height too, or firewood cut and stacked instead. A tree that could hit a building adds 25% for roping it down in sections, storm damage adds 50% for an emergency response, and a backyard with no gate access adds 30%. Trees touching power lines are ruled out with a note to call the electric utility first. If the customer doesn't know the height, the estimate shows a range from under 30 feet up to 60 feet.
What you can change
- Prices per tree by height, and stump, haul-away and firewood prices.
- The near-building, emergency and access percentages.
- What “I don't know” does for the height.
- Your minimum job price and rounding.
What still needs your visit
The tree's condition, what's underneath it and where it can safely come down. The estimate shows its assumptions and says the price is preliminary.
