How the price is worked out
Each package has an installed rate per kW for panels, inverter and racking. In the sample, that's $2,300 per kW for Standard panels and $2,800 per kW for Premium panels. Design, permits and grid connection add $3,500. An 8 kW system on a two-storey asphalt shingle roof with some shade adds optimizers at $120 per kW to Standard; Premium already includes them. Totals are rounded to the nearest $100. That gives $22,900 and $25,900 before tax.
Incentives, rebates and tax credits are not included, and the estimate says so. If the customer doesn't know the system size, the estimate asks for an assessment. If they're unsure about shade or their electrical panel, it shows a range.
What you can change
- Packages and every rate per kW.
- Which roof types you price, and which need a visit.
- Shade, access, panel upgrade and battery prices, and what each package includes.
- Your minimum job price and rounding.
What still needs your assessment
Roof structure, panel layout, energy production and utility connection rules. The estimate shows its assumptions and says the price is preliminary.
