How the price is worked out

Each material has an installed rate per square foot for each package, including labour and waste. In the sample, a 2,000 sq ft shingle roof is $4.50, $5.25 or $6.25 per sq ft. Removing one existing layer adds $1.20 per sq ft, setup and cleanup is $500, and ridge venting adds $450, except in Premium, where it's already included. That gives $12,350, $13,850 and $15,400 before tax.

A steep roof adds 15% of the roofing charge only, not of removal or extras. The area question asks for the roof surface, not the floor area of the house, and accepts square metres. If the customer doesn't know the area, the estimate asks for an assessment instead of guessing. If they're unsure about soft decking, it shows a range that includes your repair allowance.

What you can change

  • Materials, packages and every rate per square foot.
  • Which material and roof-shape combinations you price, and which need a visit.
  • Tear-off rates by layers, access charges, extras and what each package includes.
  • Your minimum job price and rounding.

What still needs your inspection

Concealed damage, ventilation needs and anything a homeowner can't see from the ground. The estimate shows its assumptions and says the price is preliminary.
