How the price is worked out

Each package has a price per room. In the sample, 3 average rooms are $450 or $575 each and 1 large room is $750 or $950. Trim and doors add $200 per average room and $275 per large room, and setup, protection and cleanup is $200. A big colour change adds 25% of the room painting charges for the extra coat: $525 for Standard and $668.75 for Premium. Premium comes to $4,418.75, which rounds to the nearest $10. That gives $3,700 and $4,420 before tax.

The colour change percentage isn't applied to ceilings, trim or repairs. If the customer isn't sure about the wall condition, the estimate shows a range that includes your repair allowance. Major repairs ask for an assessment. No estimate shows less than the $800 minimum job price.

What you can change

  • Room sizes, packages and every price per room.
  • Ceiling, trim and repair prices, and the colour change percentage.
  • Which wall conditions go to an assessment.
  • Your minimum job price and rounding.

What still needs your visit

Actual room sizes, ceiling heights, the prep work the walls need and the colours chosen. The estimate shows its assumptions and says the price is preliminary.
