How the price is worked out

Each material has a rate per foot for 5-inch and 6-inch gutters. In the sample, 150 feet of seamless aluminum is $10 or $12 per foot ($1,500 or $1,800), and 4 downspouts are $120 or $150 each ($480 or $600). Removing the old gutters is $1.50 per foot ($225). A two-story home adds 15% of the gutters, downspouts and guards for ladders and staging ($297 or $360). Totals are rounded to the nearest $10. That gives $2,500 and $2,990 before tax.

Gutter guards are priced per foot when chosen, and homes of three stories or more add 30%. If the customer doesn't know the length, the estimate uses a stated 150 feet; if they don't know how many downspouts, it assumes 4 and says so.
