How the price is worked out
Each material has an installed rate per square foot for each package, including underlay, trim and waste. In the sample, 600 sq ft of luxury vinyl plank is $4.75 or $5.75 per sq ft. Removing the old carpet adds $0.75 per sq ft, and delivery, setup and cleanup is $250. Twelve stairs are $100 or $130 each, and 180 feet of new baseboard is $4.00 or $5.50 per foot. That gives $5,470 and $6,700 before tax.
Removal is priced by the type of floor coming out, and tile costs more to remove than carpet. If the customer says the subfloor has dips or soft spots, a levelling allowance per square foot is added. If they're not sure, the estimate shows a range that includes it. If they don't know the floor area, it asks for an assessment instead of guessing. No estimate shows less than the $1,000 minimum job price.

What still needs your visit
