How the price is worked out

Length × width gives the area in square feet (metres are converted exactly). In the sample, a 16 × 12 ft patio is 192 sq ft at $12 (Broom finish), $15 (Exposed aggregate) or $18 (Stamped) per sq ft. Removing the old concrete adds $4 per sq ft, two steps are $400, $475 or $550 each, and setup, forming and cleanup is $600. That gives $4,450, $5,200 and $5,900 before tax, rounded to the nearest $50.

Sloped ground adds 10% of the concrete work only, not of removal, steps or access. Tight access adds $650 for a pump or wheelbarrows, and walkways add $250 for extra forming. If the customer isn't sure about slope or truck access, the estimate shows a range. Retaining walls and structural concrete go to an assessment, and small jobs never show less than your minimum ($2,500 in the sample).

What you can change

  • Finishes, packages and every rate per square foot.
  • Removal rates, step prices and access charges.
  • The slope percentage and which jobs need a visit.
  • Your minimum job price and rounding.

What still needs your visit

Soil and drainage, what's under old concrete, permits and exact layout. The estimate shows its assumptions and says the price is preliminary.
